Biotech Heights had the privilege of participating in a lunch seminar hosted at the Swedish Parliament on the 18th of February 2025, where Vinnova presented its report on synthetic biology.

Representing Biotech Heights at the seminar were Lena de Maré, Manager for Research and Technology Department at Tetra Pak, and Josefin Ahlqvist, Project Manager at Lund University. Their contributions provided valuable insights into the collaborative efforts between research institutions and private enterprises in developing biotechnological solutions.

One of the key messages from Biotech Heights was the need for clearer regulations and streamlined approval processes for new food products at the EU level. The speakers emphasized the importance of shorter processing times and increased financial support for applied research and infrastructure development to scale up production. These factors are essential for ensuring Sweden remains competitive and can further explore biotechnology's potential to improve efficiency in food and material production.

Josefin Ahlqvist expressed her enthusiasm about the discussion, stating, "The biotechnology industry is crucial for strengthening Swedish competitiveness and ensuring sustainable production of future materials and food. That is why I am very grateful that we had the opportunity to present Biotech Heights."

Lena de Maré highlighted the significance of the event, saying, "It was a great opportunity to present the biotechnology sector's needs for food and materials directly to policymakers. A special thank you to Lars Friberg at Vinnova for making this happen!"

Biotech Heights looks forward to continuing its collaboration with policymakers and industry leaders to support biotechnology investments and innovation.
